Two additional companies participate in the Yeongju Social Venture Business Growth Support Project

Two additional companies selected for participation by the Bairut and Fisheries Technology Research Institute, increasing the number of companies to 10 Developing nutrients using aquatic plants such as frog rice
and cultivating fishery resources on land using biotechnology

Two additional companies have joined the 'Yeongju Economy (STAXX)' project, which supports the growth of social venture companies by Yeongju City and SK Specialty.

According to Yeongju City on the 20th, the additionally selected companies are Byroot and Korea Fisheries Research & Development Institute. With this, the number of companies participating in the Yeongju Economic Initiative has increased from 8 to 10.

Byroot is developing eco-friendly alternative protein foods such as nutritional supplements and herbal medicines by introducing facilities to cultivate and process frogweed, an aquatic plant that floats on water. The Korea Fisheries Research & Development Institute is a company that cultivates and sells marine resources on land using smart aqua farms based on bio and AI technology.
'Into the Yeongju Economy' is a project supported by SK Specialty, which has a factory in Yeongju, as part of its community service project. It is operated by Impact Square, a social venture and social enterprise accelerator certified by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Yeongju City and SK Specialty signed growth support agreements with eight companies in October of last year and are helping them promote their businesses. △ Picky Child Company, which is introducing a new type of barbecue by adding Korean ingredients and sauces; △ Elground Co., Ltd., which operates the agricultural, livestock, and marine product direct transaction platform ‘Root’; △ Liquor Square Co., Ltd., which is building a brewery to develop and sell local alcohol; △ Backpackers Planet Co., Ltd., which is developing a backpacking activity program; △ Blank Co., Ltd., which secured leased land for building a shared house; △ Vinest Co., Ltd., which produces and sells F&B products using its own agricultural product fermentation technology; △ Pinozen Co., Ltd., which secured a planting site to sell beauty and health hygiene products using pine byproducts; △ Decant Co., Ltd., which develops cosmetics utilizing fruit byproducts including wine.

Kwak Ki-seop, head of the production headquarters at SK Specialty, said, “All 10 companies that we had targeted will now do business in Yeongju,” and added, “We will provide both material and spiritual support so that the companies can continue to grow and become the foundation for a virtuous cycle of revitalizing the local economy and attracting young people.”

Song Ho-jun, the mayor of Yeongju, said, "Just as applause requires both hands to be together to make a sound, the city will also promote various youth and startup support projects in response to the efforts of young people."
