The 'Next G-Star Round' investment attraction platform promoted by the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center (Director Lee Moon-rak) and KDB Industrial Bank Gyeongsan Branch (Branch Manager Song Kang-guk) is playing its role very well.
On the 15th, the 2023 'Next G-Star Round' final IR was held at the Daegu Marriott Hotel. Nine companies were selected for the final round through the preliminary round. In particular, KDB Industrial Bank is considering follow-up investment through this final round IR evaluation.
The 'Next G-Star Round', planned to activate the local investment ecosystem and support investment attraction for startups by sector, is a competition jointly operated by the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center, Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, and Daegu University.
Starting with the recruitment notice in September, a total of nine award-winning companies, three companies each in three sectors, were selected through about two months of fierce document screening and competitive IR.
First, in the mobility field, ▲Grand Prize TCMS Co., Ltd. (CEO Shin Tae-yong) ▲Excellence Prize POSCO Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Hyung-jin) ▲Encouragement Prize TMVNet Co., Ltd. (CEO Cho Hyung-nam) were awarded. In the energy and bio field, ▲Grand Prize UC Therapeutics Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeong Su-yeong) ▲Excellence Prize Korea Fisheries Research & Development Institute (CEO Kim Min-su) ▲Encouragement Prize Enercamp Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Jeong-seop) were awarded. Lastly, in the fintech, blockchain, and web 3.0 field, ▲Grand Prize Infinite Block (CEO Jeong Gu-tae) ▲Excellence Prize Growing Lab Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Jeong-jae) ▲Encouragement Prize Switch One Co., Ltd. (CEO Seo Jeong-ah) were awarded.
In addition, KDB Industrial Bank held a financial support agreement ceremony for TCMS Co., Ltd. (CEO Shin Tae-yong) through the IR evaluation of this main round.
Song Kang-guk, head of Gyeongsan Branch of KDB Industrial Bank, said, “As an implementation measure in accordance with the business agreement signed between KDB Industrial Bank Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters and Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center on November 13, we have signed a financial support agreement with TCMS Co., Ltd., one of the IR award winners, to begin full-scale investment and financing support. We plan to continuously develop the fostering of venture companies in the Gyeongbuk region and the growth of excellent local companies in cooperation with the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center.”
In addition, a networking event was held between the award winners and domestic investment institutions to provide direct and indirect investment opportunities. The atmosphere in the hall was lively with networking between companies and investors, refreshing the sluggish atmosphere during the cold investment season.
Lee Moon-rak, head of the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center, said, “Through the Next G-Star Round, we hope that this event will serve as a stepping stone for struggling venture and startups to not only attract investment but also grow into unicorn companies.” He added, “As a cradle for regional innovative startups, we will actively support the discovery, growth, and investment attraction of promising startups.”
